About

Our Story

Where the pit meets the ice.

Metal and Hockey started as a Tumblr in 2014. A place to post show photos, half-baked opinions about playoff hockey, and the occasional rant about why nobody was covering the underground the way it deserved to be covered.

It grew into something we didn't expect. Turns out there are a lot of people who spend their winters watching hockey and their weekends in the pit. People who see the same controlled aggression, the same tribal loyalty, the same blue-collar intensity in both worlds.

We're independent. No label money, no PR relationships, no algorithm to feed. We write what we want, shoot what we want, and talk to whoever will talk to us. That's the whole deal.

What We Believe

  • Honest reviews over access journalism.
  • The underground deserves the same coverage as the mainstream.
  • Concert photography is an art form.
  • Hockey fights and metal breakdowns are the same emotional release.
  • Short sets and short periods are both underrated.
  • The best shows happen in rooms that hold 200 people.
